Algeria Heritage Sites Collection

Algeria is a country in North Africa that is home to many ancient and historical sites. These heritage sites are some of the most important cultural and archaeological locations in the world. The city of Algiers, located on the Mediterranean Sea, has been an important trading port since antiquity. Other notable heritage sites include Tipasa, a Punic-Roman city; Djemila, a Roman ruin; Timgad, an ancient Roman military camp; and M'Zab Valley, which contains five fortified cities that were built by Berber people in the 10th century. Algeria also has several Islamic monuments such as mosques and mausoleums from various dynasties throughout its history. All these sites are protected by UNESCO World Heritage Sites status and offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore Algeria's rich cultural heritage.
