Lake Nasser Collection

Lake Nasser is a large reservoir located in the south of Egypt and northern Sudan. It was created as a result of the construction of the Aswan High Dam across the Nile River in 1970. The lake is 550 km long, 35 km wide at its widest point, and has an average depth of about 180 m. It holds about 132 cubic kilometers of water and is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. Lake Nasser provides irrigation for both Egypt and Sudan, as well as hydroelectric power for both countries. The lake also supports a thriving fishing industry, with over 200 species being caught by local fishermen each year. In addition to its economic benefits, it also serves as an important habitat for many species of birds and animals that depend on it for food or shelter.
