Poster produced for British Railways (BR) Eastern Region (ER), showing a view of the Embassy Ballroom and a funfair, at the Lincolnshire seaside resort of Skegness, with the beach and pier in the background. In the top right-hand corner is shown the famous Jolly Fisherman character, taken from the original GNR poster of 1908 by John Hassall, also entitled Skegness is So Bracing'. Poster produced for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), promoting express rail travel to the Lancashire seaside resort of Blackpool, showing holiday-makers strolling on the new seafront promenades, with Blackpool Tower and pier in the background. Artwork by Chesley Bonestell (1888-1986). Bonestell later became known as the father of space art, creating photorealistic paintings and contributing to the beginnings of the USA space programme in the 1940s and 1950s. Proof copy of a poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER), showing a woodcut illustration of St John's Bridge (Kitchen Bridge), in the university city of Cambridge. Based on a design by Christopher Wren (1632-1723) the bridge was built between 1709 and 1712. Poster artwork by Gwen Raverat (1885-1957). Cambridge-born Raverat, a granddaughter of Charles Darwin and member of the Bloomsbury circle, was a major figure in the 20th century British revival of wood engraving
