Alfred Bestall (1892-1986) is best-known as the artist who drew Rupert Bear for thirty years. Spindle cowrie (Phenacovolva maccoyi), well-camouflaged gastropod that lives and feeds on gorgonians and other soft corals. Related to true cowries but lacking teeth on the aperture. Most occur in the tropics but several extend down the east and west coasts of Australia to temperate waters. South Solitary Island, New South Wales, Australia
