The wedding bible given to the Princess Royal

A bible gifted to Victoria(Vicky)(1840-1901), eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, the Princess Royal, on the occasion of her wedding to Prince Frederick William of Prussia. The special large-paper copy of Bagster's facsimile octavo polyglot was presented by maidens of the United Kingdom. Bound in dark purple, with pure gold clasps, it was decorated with the national rose, thistle and shamrock, as well as Victoria's coat of arms. Date: 1858

The wedding gifts to the Princess Royal

Emerald and diamond bracelet, and opal and diamond suite, presented to the Victoria(Vicky)(1840-1901)Princess Royal, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Frederick William of Prussia. The opals were a present from the Prince of Wales, and the emeralds from her father Albert, the Prince Consort. The gems are of unusually fine quality and size, and were manufactured by Mr. J Turner of New Bond Street. Date: 1858
