Coat of arms 17th century Peake and Harrison

This image is from a copperplate engraving, and shows part of a roll of arms from Richard Blome's Britannia, an atlas published in 1673. It features the coats of arms of people who contributed towards the completion of the work a?? starting with King Charles II. Each page includes 35 coats of arms, presented here in groups of two. These coats of arms are from folio (page) 10 of the work. In old English, ans appeared as a longs (which looks like an f'), while ss appeared as fs'. Com was an abbreviation for County'. A number is assigned to each benefactor. Here are the accompanying texts (followed by modernised English where appropriate): 295. Sir William PEAKE of ye Citty of London of Old Holt near Colchefter in Efsex & of Grayes alias Colt hall in Cavendifh parifh in Suffolk Kt. (Colchester in Essex; Cavendish parish in Suffolk). 296. Richard HARRISON of Balls in ye parifh of St. Iohn Hartford in ye Com Hartford Efq (in the parish of St. John; Ware, Hertfordshire)

A view shows the Labynkyr lake

A view shows the Labynkyr lake, some 100 km south of Oymyakon in the Republic of Sakha, northeast Russia, February 1, 2013. The coldest temperatures in the northern hemisphere have been recorded in Sakha, the location of the Oymyakon valley, where according to the United Kingdom Met Office a temperature of -67.8 degrees Celsius (-90 degrees Fahrenheit) was registered in 1933 - the coldest on record in the northern hemisphere since the beginning of the 20th century. Yet despite the harsh climate, people live in the valley, and the area is equipped with schools, a post office, a bank, and even an airport runway (albeit open only in the summer).
