Camborne Railway Station. 1920s

Camborne Station in the early 1920s, including the splendid platform lamps, the flat awning of the down platform contrasting with the pitched version on the up side, the stubby semaphore signals against the covered over bridge as well as the 35 lever signal box that survived until 1970. To the right of the picture behind the fence line a locomotive stands in a siding

European Gentleman driven Triumphal Arch, Palmyra, Syria

An eminent European Gentleman being driven through the Monumental Arch of Triumph at Palmyra, Syria in the eastern section of Palmyra's colonnade built at the time of Emperor Septimius Severus, probably to celebrate the emperor's victories over the Parthians. This stunning architectural survival was partially destroyed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS / ISIL / Daesh) in October 2015. Date: circa 1930s
