Green Toad Collection

Green Toads (Bufo debilis) are a species of Nearctic toads found in the United States and Mexico, and are small amphibians, typically growing up to 2 inches in length. Green Toads have a distinctive greenish-brown coloration, with dark spots on their backs and sides. They prefer moist habitats such as woodlands, meadows, and marshes. During the day they hide under logs or rocks to avoid predators. At night they come out to feed on insects such as beetles and flies. Breeding season is usually from April through June when males call for mates with a loud trill sound. Females lay eggs in shallow water where tadpoles hatch after about two weeks before developing into adults over the next few months, and are important members of their ecosystems by controlling insect populations while also providing food for other animals like snakes, birds, and mammals.
