Annas Hummingbird Collection

Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna) is a species of hummingbird found in western North America, and is the most common and widespread hummingbird found in the United States and Canada. These birds are small, typically measuring only 3-4 inches in length, with a wingspan of 4-5 inches. They have iridescent green backs and crowns, white throats and bellies, and reddish sides. Anna's Hummingbirds feed on nectar from flowers as well as insects they catch while hovering in midair and are known to visit bird feeders for food when available. Their nesting season usually begins around February or March, with females laying two eggs per clutch that hatch after about two weeks of incubation by the female alone. The male will often guard their territory during this time to protect his mate from other males or predators. Anna's Hummingbirds are an important part of our ecosystem as they help pollinate plants while feeding on nectar from flowers.
