Aerial view of Battersea

This photograph was taken just after the ascent and the oval grass patch to the right of the three gasometers shows the mat from which the balloon rose. The region in question is Battersea, and the railway in the middle, showing a train in the station, is Battersea Park Station. The two sets of rails belong to the South Eastern and Chatham and the London Brighton and South Coach. The road with the oval area is Victoria Bridge Road and Victoria Circus. Battersea Park Road can be seen just at the top of the large gasometer running from left to right. 3 April 1909, 1.33 pm. Balloon Corona. Date: 1909
