White Faced Robin Collection

The White Faced Robin (Petroica albifacies) is a species of Australian robin and a member of the passerine birds, and is found mainly in eastern Australia, from southern Queensland to Tasmania, but can also be found in parts of New South Wales and Victoria, white face with black eyes, greyish-brown upperparts and white underparts. Its wings are dark brown with white edges, while its tail is black with white tips. These birds feed mainly on insects and spiders which they catch by hopping on the ground or by hovering briefly over it before diving down to snatch their prey. They also eat small fruits and berries when available. During breeding season they form monogamous pairs that build nests together out of grasses, twigs and feathers in tree hollows or other sheltered spots close to the ground. The female lays 3-5 eggs which both parents incubate for about two weeks until they hatch into young chicks that fledge after another two weeks or so.
