Yellow Breasted Chat Collection

The Yellow Breasted Chat (Icteria virens) is a species of New World Warbler, a type of passerine bird, and is found in North America, from southern Canada to Mexico. The adult male has a bright yellow head and breast, olive-green back and wings, and white belly. Females are duller in coloration with an olive-brown head and back. These birds feed on insects, spiders, fruits and berries, and are often seen hopping along the ground or perching on low branches in search of food. They also have an unusual song consisting of whistles, trills and mimicry that can be heard during the breeding season from April to July, and are generally common throughout their range but may be declining due to habitat loss caused by human activities such as logging and urbanization.
