Bullocks Oriole Collection

Bullock's Orioles are passerine birds in the family Icteridae, and are native to western North America, from southern Canada to northern Mexico. These birds have a black head and back, with bright yellow underparts and a white wing patch. Males also have an orange shoulder patch and a black line through the eye. Females lack the orange shoulder patch but have a white line through the eye instead. Bullock's Orioles feed on insects, fruits, nectar and seeds, foraging in trees or on wires for food. They build cup-shaped nests of grasses, bark strips and other materials in trees or shrubs near open areas with plenty of food sources nearby. Bullock's Orioles are usually found alone or in pairs during breeding season but can form large flocks during migration or winter months when they move southward into Mexico.
