Verdin (Auriparus flaviceps) is a small passerine bird belonging to the family Remizidae, and is found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it inhabits desert scrub and chaparral habitats, small bird, measuring 4-5 inches in length with a wingspan of 6-7 inches. Its plumage is mostly yellowish-green with yellow underparts and blackish wings. The male has an orange crown patch on its head which gives it its name; "verdin" means "little green one" in Spanish.
