Common Myna Collection

The Common Myna (Sturnus tristis) is a species of starling in the family Passeridae, and is native to Asia, but has been introduced to many other parts of the world, medium-sized bird with a black head, brown body, and yellow bill and legs. Its wings are brown with white tips and its tail is long and pointed and has an unmistakable loud call which can be heard from far away. The Common Myna feeds on insects, fruits, grains, nectar and small vertebrates such as lizards and frogs. It also scavenges for food in urban areas such as parks or gardens. This species forms large flocks when not breeding seasonally in pairs or small groups. The Common Myna builds its nest in tree cavities or man-made structures like buildings or bridges where it lays 2-5 eggs per clutch which hatch after about two weeks of incubation by both parents.
