Island Thrush Collection

The Island Thrush is a species of passerine bird belonging to the thrush family, and is native to the islands of Hawaii, where it is found in a variety of habitats including forests, shrublands, and grasslands, grayish-brown back and wings, with white underparts and a black head. Its bill is yellowish-orange with a black tip. This species feeds on insects, fruits, berries, and seeds found on the ground or in trees. It also eats snails and other invertebrates from tree trunks or branches. The Island Thrush nests in trees or shrubs near water sources such as streams or ponds during the breeding season from April to August. During this time they can be seen singing their loud melodious song which consists of whistles and warbles that can be heard up to half a mile away.
