King Collection

King Penguins are the second largest species of penguin in the world, standing at up to 3.9 feet tall and weighing up to 35 pounds, and are found on islands in the sub-Antarctic region, with their main breeding grounds being located on the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Macquarie Island. King Penguins have a black head and back with white underparts and a bright orange-yellow band around their neck. They feed mainly on krill, squid, fish and other crustaceans which they catch while swimming underwater. King Penguins form large colonies during breeding season which can contain up to hundreds of thousands of birds. These colonies provide protection from predators such as skuas or sea lions that would otherwise prey upon them or their eggs/chicks. King Penguins are an important part of our planet's biodiversity as they help keep food webs balanced by controlling populations of smaller fish species that would otherwise overpopulate certain areas if left unchecked by predators like them.
