The Green Billed Toucan (Ramphastos dicolorus) is a species of toucan belonging to the Piciformes family of birds, and is native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, ranging from Mexico to Brazil. The toucan has a large, bright green bill with yellow edges and black markings on its face. Its body is mostly black with white patches on its wings and tail feathers and has a loud call that can be heard from up to half a mile away. The Green Billed Toucan feeds mainly on fruit, but will also eat insects, lizards and small birds, and are usually found in pairs or small groups in the canopy of trees where they build their nests out of twigs and leaves, and are popular as pets due to their colorful plumage and friendly personalities, but require specialized care in captivity due to their dietary needs.
