Collared Trogon Collection

The Collared Trogon (Trogons) is a medium-sized bird found in Central and South America and has a distinctive black and white pattern on its head, neck, and wings. The back is greenish-blue with yellow spots, while the underside of the tail is bright red. Its call is a loud "tuk-tuk" sound that can be heard from far away. The Collared Trogon feeds mainly on insects, fruits, and small reptiles such as lizards. It nests in tree cavities or holes made by other birds such as woodpeckers. During the breeding season it performs an elaborate courtship display involving singing and bowing to attract potential mates. This species is not considered threatened but its population has declined due to habitat loss caused by deforestation and agricultural activities. Conservation efforts are needed to ensure that this beautiful bird continues to thrive in its natural environment for future generations to enjoy.
