Pilot Fish Collection

Pilot Fish are small, silver-colored fish that live in the open ocean, and are found in tropical and subtropical waters all over the world. They have a unique relationship with sharks; they swim close to them and eat scraps of food left behind by their larger companions. It also feed on plankton, small crustaceans, and other tiny organisms in the water and can grow up to 8 inches long and live for up to 10 years and can an important part of the marine ecosystem as they help keep it clean by eating parasites off of larger fish species. They also provide food for other animals such as sea turtles, dolphins, and seabirds. Although they may look like a tasty snack to predators, their silvery color helps them blend into the background making them difficult to spot.
