They have an elongated body shape with a pointed snout and small scales. They range in color from silver to dark blue-green on their backs with white or pale yellow undersides. The average size of a salmon is between 20-50 inches long and they can weigh up to 50 pounds. Salmon feed on smaller fish, crustaceans, insects, plankton, and other aquatic organisms.
