Spider Beetles Collection

Spider beetles are small insects that belong to the family Ptinidae. They get their name from their long, spindly legs and oval-shaped bodies which resemble spiders. These beetles feed on stored grains, cereals, dried fruits and nuts, as well as dead insects and animal remains and can also be found in bird nests or other dark places where food is present and can capable of surviving in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +50°C and can live up to two years without food or water. They reproduce by laying eggs which hatch into larvae that feed on the same foods as adults before pupating into adults themselves and can considered a nuisance pest due to their ability to contaminate stored foods with their droppings and shed skins, but they do not pose any health risks for humans or animals.
