Promotional postcard for The Golden Toy a romantic play by Dion Titherage from the German of Carl Zuckmayer; music Robert Schu-mann. First produced London Coliseum, 28th February 1934. For love of a temple courtesan, a poor man sells the golden toy coach which proves him to be a prince. Apart from the dance arrangements, the elephant, Rosie, got the best reviews. Artist: Hicks.This poster is based on the style of Indian miniatures. It is reproduced in Richard Jarman, The London Coliseum, The Story of Londons largest Theatre (1981) Date: 1934

Famous and upcoming artists contributed statues to the cause of the conservation of Asian elephants and the public awareness of their life threatening situation. In the past 100 years Asian elephant populations had plummeted from 250, 000 to 25, 000
