The brown-throated sloth (Bradypodidae) is a species of mammal found in Central and South America, and is the most common type of sloth, and can be found in tropical rainforests, mangroves, and dry forests, slow metabolism and moves slowly through the trees using its long claws to grip branches. Its fur is usually grayish-brown with white or yellowish highlights on its face, chest, and limbs. Its diet consists mainly of leaves from trees such as Cecropia, but it also eats fruits, flowers, and insects when available. It spends most of its time sleeping or resting in the tree canopy during the day but becomes more active at night when it feeds, and are solitary animals that live up to 20 years in the wild, and are threatened by habitat destruction due to deforestation for agricultural purposes as well as hunting for their meat or fur by humans.
