Common Marmoset Collection

The Common Marmoset (Cebidae) is a small mammal found in the tropical forests of South America, and is one of the smallest primates, measuring only about 6-8 inches in length and weighing less than 5 ounces. The marmoset has a grayish-brown fur with white patches on its face and limbs. Its tail is long and bushy, reaching up to 12 inches in length. Its diet consists mainly of insects, fruits, flowers, nectar and sap from trees. It lives in groups of up to 20 individuals and communicates through loud calls that can be heard from far away distances. The Common Marmoset is an important part of the ecosystem as it helps disperse seeds throughout its habitat by eating fruit pulp containing seeds that are then spread when they defecate or urinate elsewhere and are important pollinators for some species of plants due to their habit of licking nectar from flowers while searching for food sources.
