Pygmy Marmoset Collection

The Pygmy Marmoset (Cebidae) is a small species of New World monkey that is native to the rainforests of South America, and is the smallest monkey in the world, measuring just 5-6 inches in length and weighing only 3-4 ounces. Its fur is typically brownish-gray with lighter patches on its face, hands, and feet and has a long tail which it uses for balance and to cling to branches while moving through trees. The Pygmy Marmoset feeds mainly on tree sap, gum, insects, fruits, flowers and nectar. They live in groups of 2-15 individuals and communicate with each other using vocalizations such as chirps and whistles, and are active during the day but also sleep at night in tree hollows or nests made from leaves or twigs. The Pygmy Marmoset is an important part of its ecosystem as it helps disperse seeds throughout its habitat which helps maintain healthy forests.
