Badius Collection

Badius is a genus of Old World monkeys belonging to the family Cercopithecidae, and are found in Africa and Asia, primarily in tropical forests. Badius species are medium-sized primates with long tails, usually ranging from 30 to 50 cm in length. They have gray or brown fur and some species have white patches on their faces or chests. These primates feed mainly on fruits, leaves, flowers, insects and other small animals. They also consume soil and clay for minerals as well as bark for fiber. Badius live in groups of up to 30 individuals which can be either all male or mixed sex groups with a single dominant male leader.
