Black Colobus Collection

Black Colobus (Cercopithecidae) are a species of Old World monkeys found in the forests of Africa. They have a black or dark brown coat, with white patches on their faces and backs. They have long tails and long limbs, which help them to move quickly through the trees. Black Colobus live in groups of up to 30 individuals, with one dominant male leading the group. Their diet consists mainly of leaves, fruits, flowers and seeds and are known to eat insects and small vertebrates such as lizards and birds and can threatened by habitat destruction due to deforestation for logging or agricultural activities as well as hunting for bushmeat or pet trade purposes. Conservation efforts focus on protecting their habitats from destruction so that these primates can continue to thrive in their natural environment.
