The Sumatran Surili (Presbytis melalophos) is a species of primate belonging to the Cercopithecidae family, and is native to the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, and is found in lowland and montane forests, and are medium-sized primates with a body length of up to 50 cm and a tail length of up to 70 cm. Their fur color varies from light grayish-brown on their back to yellowish-white on their belly. They have long arms and legs, giving them an agile appearance when they move through trees. The diet of the Sumatran Surili consists mainly of fruit, leaves, flowers, buds, insects and other small animals. They live in groups that can range from two individuals up to twenty or more individuals depending on the size of the forest they inhabit. The Sumatran Surili is currently listed as Vulnerable by IUCN due to habitat loss caused by deforestation for agricultural purposes as well as hunting for bushmeat trade.
