Thomass Langur is a species of Old World monkey found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, and are small to medium-sized primates, with males weighing up to 10 kg and females up to 8 kg. Thomass Langurs have long, black fur on their head and back, with lighter fur on their chest and belly. They have a white stripe down their forehead and cheeks that extends from the nose to the ears. Their diet consists mainly of leaves, fruits, flowers, seeds, insects, and other small animals. They live in groups of up to 30 individuals which can be divided into smaller subgroups for foraging or resting purposes, and are diurnal animals that spend most of their time in trees but also come down to ground level for short periods during the day, and are threatened by habitat loss due to deforestation as well as hunting for bushmeat or pets. Conservation efforts include habitat protection as well as education programs about the importance of preserving these primates in their natural habitats.
