Regulus is a genus of small mammals belonging to the family Cricetidae, and are found in North America, Europe, and parts of Asia. They have short tails and long ears. Their fur is usually grayish-brown or reddish-brown in color with white underparts. They have four toes on each foot and feed mainly on insects, seeds, fruits, and other small invertebrates and can active during the day and night but prefer to be active at dawn or dusk when they can find food more easily. They live in burrows which they dig themselves or use abandoned ones from other animals such as mice or voles.
