Eastern Quoll Collection

The Eastern Quoll (Dasyuridae) is a small carnivorous mammal native to Australia, and is the only species of quoll found in the eastern part of the country, and is listed as endangered due to habitat loss and predation by introduced predators such as foxes and cats, reddish-brown fur with white spots, which helps it blend in with its environment and has a long snout, short legs, and a bushy tail. Its diet consists mainly of insects, small mammals, birds eggs and carrion, and are solitary animals that live in hollow logs or burrows during the day and come out at night to hunt for food and are known to eat fruit when available. The female Eastern Quoll gives birth to up to four young after a gestation period of around 21 days; they reach sexual maturity at around 12 months old. Conservation efforts are underway in order to protect this species from further decline due to human activities such as land clearing for agriculture or development projects.
