The Pygmy Killer Whale (Feresa attenuata) is a species of dolphin belonging to the Delphinidae family of mammals, and is found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world, primarily in the Indian and Pacific Oceans and has a black or dark gray body with white patches on its underside and head, as well as a white patch on its dorsal fin. Its size ranges from 4-5 feet long and it can weigh up to 200 pounds. The Pygmy Killer Whale feeds mainly on fish, squid, octopus, shrimp, and other small marine animals. It lives in groups of up to 20 individuals but may also form larger pods when food is plentiful, and are known for their acrobatic behavior such as breaching out of the water or leaping high into the air before diving back down again, and are considered near threatened due to human activities such as fishing nets entanglement and pollution which have caused population declines in some areas.
