Cecil Aldins dogs go to join him in Majorca

A group of dogs belonging to the famous animal and dog artist, Cecil Aldin, pictured with Aldin's daughter, Mrs Mason on board a ship, bound for Majorca where Aldin had moved in order to improve his health. Notable among the group is Micky the Irish Wolfhound, Cracker the bull terrier and Woggles the Sealyham Terrier, all of whom were immortalised in Aldin's drawings. Date: 1932

Pictured surrounded by all her favourite things - her children Teresa and Giles (who died aged 13), her dogs, Wendy the Pekingese and Polly the Sealyham Terrier, their home of Evershot in Dorset, her horse White Sox and a set of golf clubs. View of Sealyham House or Mansion, a Georgian style country house near Little Newcastle, Pembrokeshire, Dyfed, South Wales. It served as a TB sanatorium from 1923 to 1966, and is now a children's activity centre. It was once the home of the Edwardes family -- the Sealyham Terrier was developed here in the 19th century by Captain John Owen Tucker-Edwardes as a rough-haired terrier for use in vermin control
