Przewalskis Horse Collection

Przewalski's Horse (Equus ferus przewalskii) is an endangered species of wild horse native to the steppes of Central Asia, and is the last remaining true wild horse, as all other horses are domesticated descendants of Przewalski's Horse. The species was first described by Russian explorer Nikolai Przhevalsky in 1881 and named after him. They have a stocky build with a short neck, small head, and large ears. Their coats are typically dun-colored with black points on their legs, mane and tail and can reach up to 12 hands in height and weigh up to 900 pounds when fully grown. Conservation efforts have been successful in increasing their population from near extinction in the late 1960s to over 1,800 individuals today living both in captivity and the wild.
