The breed is known for its hardiness, agility, and sure-footedness on rough terrain, and are small but strong horses, standing between 13-14 hands high. They have a thick coat that can range from dark brown to black or grey with white markings on their face and legs and are known for their intelligence and willingness to please their owners.
