Swamp Wallaby Collection

The Swamp Wallaby (Wallabia bicolor) is a species of macropodid marsupial native to Australia, and is a medium-sized animal, typically weighing between 9 and 14 kilograms, with a body length of up to 80 cm. Its fur is usually grey-brown in colour, with lighter patches on the face and limbs and has large hind feet which it uses for hopping, and its tail is long and thickly furred. The Swamp Wallaby inhabits wetter areas such as swamps, wetlands and rainforests where it feeds on grasses, herbs and shrubs, and is nocturnal in nature but can also be seen during the day when conditions are favourable. Breeding takes place throughout the year with females giving birth to one young at a time after a gestation period of about 30 days. The Swamp Wallaby plays an important role in its environment by dispersing seeds through its droppings which helps maintain plant diversity in its habitat.
