Opossum Collection

Opossums are a species of marsupial mammals native to North and South America. They have a long snout, pointed ears, and a prehensile tail which they use for balance when climbing trees, and are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. They feed on insects, fruits, grains, eggs, small rodents and carrion, and are solitary creatures that prefer to live alone in dens made from hollow logs or tree cavities, and are nocturnal animals that spend most of their time foraging for food at night. Opossums have an excellent immune system which helps them resist many diseases and parasites that affect other animals. They also possess the ability to “play dead” when threatened by predators such as coyotes or foxes in order to avoid being eaten.
