Ring Tailed Lemur Collection

The Ring Tailed Lemur is a small primate native to the island of Madagascar, and is one of the most recognizable species of lemur due to its distinctive black and white striped tail, long body with short, powerful limbs and a long, bushy tail that can reach up to two feet in length, and are omnivorous animals, eating both plants and small animals such as insects. Their diet consists mainly of fruits, leaves, flowers, nectar and sap from trees. They live in groups called troops which can range from 2-30 individuals depending on their habitat size, and are social creatures that communicate through vocalizations and scent marking with their tails, and are listed as endangered due to habitat destruction caused by deforestation for agriculture and charcoal production as well as hunting for bushmeat or pet trade purposes.
