Sun Bear Collection

Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) is a species of bear native to Southeast Asia, and is the smallest species of bear in the world, with an average weight of only 40-60 kg and a body length of 1-1.2 m. Sun Bears have short, sleek fur that ranges from dark brown to black in color, with a distinctive yellow or white V-shaped marking on their chest, and are mainly arboreal animals and spend most of their time in trees searching for food such as insects, fruits, honey, small mammals and birds, and are solitary animals and usually live alone or in pairs, and are active during the day and sleep at night in hollow trees or caves that they dig out themselves, and are listed as vulnerable by the IUCN due to habitat loss caused by deforestation and illegal hunting for their meat and body parts used in traditional medicine practices. Conservation efforts have been made to protect this species from extinction but more needs to be done if we want them around for future generations to enjoy.
