Humboldti Collection

Humboldti (Vespertilionidae) is a species of small mammal in the family Vespertilionidae, and are found in North and Central America, from Mexico to Canada, and are typically brown or grey with white spots on their backs and have large ears and eyes. Humboldti live in a variety of habitats, including forests, deserts, grasslands, and agricultural areas. They feed mainly on insects but also eat fruits and nectar from flowers. They use echolocation to locate food sources at night. During the day they roost in hollow trees or rock crevices for protection from predators such as hawks and owls. Breeding season occurs during late spring through early summer when females give birth to one litter of up to six young per year. Humboldti play an important role in controlling insect populations which helps maintain healthy ecosystems across their range.
