Insularis Collection

Insularis is a species of Vespertilionidae, a family of small mammals commonly known as vesper bats, and is native to the islands of the Mediterranean Sea, where it inhabits caves and other dark places and has a body length of up to 5 cm and a wingspan of up to 25 cm. Its fur is usually gray or brown in color with white tips on its ears and tail. Insularis feeds mainly on insects, but also eats fruits and nectar from flowers. It roosts in colonies during the day, often in large numbers inside caves or crevices in rocks. During the night it emerges to hunt for food over open areas such as meadows and fields near water sources. An important pollinator for many plants due to its wide range across the Mediterranean region, helping maintain biodiversity in this area.
