Ribbon Worm Collection

Ribbon worms, also known as Nemerteans, are a type of worm found in oceans around the world. They have a long, thin body that can reach up to 3 meters in length and are usually bright colors like pink or yellow. Ribbon worms have no eyes or legs but they do have a proboscis which they use to capture prey. They feed on small crustaceans and mollusks by shooting out their proboscis and injecting them with toxins that paralyze their prey and can be found in shallow waters near the shoreline as well as deeper waters down to depths of 6,000 meters. These animals often live in crevices or burrows where they hide from predators such as fish and crabs. Ribbon worms reproduce by releasing eggs into the water which hatch into larvae after several weeks before maturing into adults.
