Exercise Steel Sabre: The aim of this huge Royal Artillery live firing exercise was to bring all the components of an effective Artillery group together to train in its core business: delivering firepower on the battlefield.
This included soldiers from different nations and from the Regular and Reserve parts of the British Army employing artillery guns, rockets, mortars, radars and unmanned aerial vehicles on the Otterburn Ranges

EDITORS COMMENTS
The print captures the intense firepower of Exercise Steel Sabre, showcasing a battery of AS-90 self-propelled guns lined up in the fire position. The 155mm High Explosive Ammunition for the 105mm Light gun is being used during this live firing exercise conducted by the Royal Artillery. Exercise Steel Sabre was a massive training event aimed at bringing together soldiers from different nations and both Regular and Reserve parts of the British Army. The objective was to train them in their core business: delivering devastating firepower on the battlefield. This exercise involved not only artillery guns but also rockets, mortars, radars, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The partnership and international cooperation displayed during Exercise Steel Sabre were crucial aspects as soldiers worked together seamlessly to achieve their mission objectives. The photo highlights the joint efforts made by these dedicated servicemen and women who are committed to honing their skills in order to effectively deliver firepower when it matters most. Sgt Si Longworth RLC (Phot) expertly captured this momentous display of military strength and teamwork. It serves as a reminder of the immense capabilities possessed by our armed forces while underscoring their commitment to constant training and readiness for any situation that may arise on the battlefield.
