EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness a momentous occasion on the River Thames - the Emirates Thames Nelson Flotilla. The former First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Alan West, stands tall and proud as he attends a ceremony in the grand Painted Hall. Here, he is presented with the prestigious New Trafalgar Dispatch by Admiral the Lord Boyce. As the ceremony concludes, Admiral West boards the Jubilant, HMS Victory's cutter, embarking on a majestic journey down the iconic river. Tower Bridge looms ahead as they approach its magnificent arches. Suddenly, a thunderous 15-gun salute erupts from HMS Belfast, paying homage to this historic event. Amidst all this pomp and circumstance stands an important figure - The Very Reverend Dr John Moses of St Paul's Cathedral. In his presence and that of Her Royal Highness Princess Anne (the Princess Royal), Admiral West hands over the dispatch to be entrusted to Dr Moses. This photograph captures not only a flotilla of naval vessels but also echoes of history reverberating through London's heartland. It symbolizes honor and tradition while celebrating our maritime heritage. CPO Wayne Humphreys has expertly captured this extraordinary moment for us to cherish forever. Let it serve as a reminder of our shared past and inspire future generations to uphold these noble values within our armed forces.
