EDITORS COMMENTS
The print captures the awe-inspiring moment when a Hurricane Mk IIC aircraft from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (RAF-BBMF) begins its display routine. As part of the BBMF, this historic fighter plane showcases its power and agility in the skies above RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. The RAF-BBMF, administratively under the Royal Air Force No 1 Group, boasts an impressive fleet including Spitfires, Hurricanes, a Lancaster bomber, Dakota transport aircraft, and even Chipmunks. These iconic planes pay tribute to World War II and are frequently seen at events commemorating this significant period in history. Notably, they make appearances during British State occasions such as Trooping the Colour celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II's birthday. Additionally, these magnificent aircraft participate in air displays across both the United Kingdom and Europe. This particular image by Cpl Phil Major (RAF) perfectly encapsulates the spirit of aviation excellence within our armed forces. The Hurricane Mk IIC takes center stage against a backdrop of blue sky as it prepares to dazzle spectators with its daring maneuvers. It serves as a reminder of our nation's resilience during times of conflict while honoring those who fought bravely during the Battle of Britain
