Tornado GR4 with Raptor Reconnaissance Pod

A Tornado GR4 aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force, takes off from RAF Marham in Norfolk.
A Raptor Airborne Reconnaissance Pod can be seen fitted beneath the fuselage.
The images received by the pod can be transmitted via a real-time data-link system to image analysts at a ground station, or can be displayed in the cockpit during flight. The imagery can also be recorded for post-flight analysis.
The RAPTOR system can create images of hundreds of separate targets in one sortie; it is capable of autonomous operation against preplanned targets, or it can be re-tasked manually for targets of opportunity or to select a different route to the target.
The stand-off range of the sensors allows the aircraft to remain outside heavily-defended areas, to minimise the aircrafts exposure to enemy air-defence systems

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness the power and versatility of a Tornado GR4 aircraft operated by the esteemed Royal Air Force. Taking off from RAF Marham in Norfolk, this jet is equipped with a remarkable Raptor Reconnaissance Pod beneath its fuselage. The capabilities of this pod are truly awe-inspiring. The Raptor Airborne Reconnaissance Pod allows for real-time data transmission to ground stations or even display within the cockpit during flight. This cutting-edge technology enables image analysts to receive vital information promptly and accurately. Furthermore, these images can be recorded for post-flight analysis, providing invaluable insights. What sets the RAPTOR system apart is its ability to generate images of numerous targets in just one mission. It possesses autonomous operation capabilities against preplanned targets while also allowing manual re-tasking for targets of opportunity or alternative routes to reach objectives swiftly and effectively. One notable advantage lies in the stand-off range of these sensors, enabling our brave pilots to remain outside heavily-defended areas and minimize exposure to enemy air-defense systems. This ensures their safety while conducting offensive operations. As we admire this photograph, let us appreciate not only the advanced equipment showcased but also acknowledge the dedication and expertise demonstrated by our squadron members who operate these jets with utmost precision. Their unwavering commitment keeps us safe as they carry out crucial reconnaissance missions on behalf of our Armed Forces.
