A Typhoon F2 fighter aircraft (top) from 11 Squadron, RAF Coningsby in close formation

A Typhoon F2 fighter aircraft (top) from 11 Squadron, RAF Coningsby in close formation with a Tornado F3 aircraft formerly from the same Squadron.
Tornados first flew with this historic Squadron in 1988. In Oct 2005 the Squadron was disbanded but reformed again at RAF Coningsby on 29 Mar 07 as the RAFs second frontline Typhoon squadron. As the multi-role lead squadron, it spearheads the development of Typhoons air-to-surface capability, which was ready for deployed operations by the summer of 2008

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the power and precision of two remarkable aircraft in close formation. At the forefront, we have a Typhoon F2 fighter aircraft from 11 Squadron, RAF Coningsby, soaring through the skies with unparalleled grace. Accompanying it is a Tornado F3 aircraft that once belonged to the same prestigious squadron. The history behind these magnificent machines adds an extra layer of significance to this image. The Tornados made their debut with 11 Squadron back in 1988, solidifying their place within its legacy. However, after being disbanded in October 2005, the squadron was resurrected on March 29th, 2007 at RAF Coningsby as the second frontline Typhoon squadron for the Royal Air Force. As pioneers of multi-role capabilities, this reformed unit took charge of developing Typhoons' air-to-surface potential. Their tireless efforts paid off when by summer 2008, they were ready for deployed operations. In this snapshot frozen in time, we witness not only a breathtaking display of aerial prowess but also a testament to human ingenuity and dedication within our armed forces. These jet fighters represent strength and unity as they navigate together through endless blue skies - guardians of our nation's safety and defenders against any threat that may arise.
