Howard Chandler Christy (1873-1952) was an American artist best known for his iconic "Christy Girl" images. He was born in Ohio and studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. His career began as a magazine illustrator, and he quickly gained recognition for his work. He became a successful commercial artist, creating posters for the US Navy during World War I and later painting portraits of prominent figures such as presidents Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover.
