Eugene Alexis Girardet Collection

Eugene Alexis Girardet was a French painter, sculptor, and engraver who lived from 1853 to 1907. He was born in Paris and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts. His works often depicted scenes of everyday life in rural France. He also painted portraits and landscapes, as well as religious subjects such as the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ. Girardet's works were exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1878 to 1903, where he won several awards for his work. He also received a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900 in Paris for his painting The Harvest Festival. His work is held in many public collections around the world including The Louvre Museum in Paris, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., among others.
